Have you ever wanted to massively boost your Qantas Points balance for just $396? Optus is offering a limited-time $99 Promo Plan that comes packed with inclusions. But the cherry on top is 60,000 bonus Qantas Points after you stay connected for three months.
Assuming you stay on for the minimum period, you’ll pay up to four months of plan fees, which is $396. That’s one of the best deals of the year, but you don’t have long to get connected!
Deal: 60,000 bonus points on the $99 plan
Expiry: Sign up by 5 September 2022 |
It’s back! The Optus $99 plan sits at the top of the pecking order. You get 200GB of Optus 5G data (where available), endless capped data at 1.5 Mbps if you exceed your allowance, unlimited Talk & Text within Australia, and access to Optus Sport for entertainment.
See the Critical Information Summary [PDF] here →
If you have a dual-Sim or e-SIM phone and already have an existing number you don’t want to switch to Optus, one idea is to activate the Optus $99 Promo Plan on a new number and just use the data allowance, while keeping your original number for calls and text.
But do be aware that signing up for a new phone plan can mean another hit on your credit account, which may affect your credit score for future credit card and loan applications.
Important points from the T&Cs on the offer page include:
- New and existing Optus customers are eligible.
- You must add and activate the plan between 1 and 5 September 2022.
- Points are awarded in a single instalment at the end of month three from your activation date.
- Points are forfeited if you cancel or re-contract the Promo Plan during that period.
- You must be an active Qantas Frequent Flyer member to earn the points.
This deal works out to buying points at 0.66 cents each. We value Qantas Points at 1.90 cents each, so you really can’t go wrong with this offer.
What can I do with 60,000 points?
Here are a few suggestions for how you could spend 60,000 Qantas Points or more.
- Fly from Australia to Asia in Qantas Business Class (from 57,000 points from Perth, and from 68,400 points from other cities).
- Fly between Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane and Perth in Qantas Airbus A330 lie-flat Business Class from 41,500 points.
- Travel from Sydney to Nadi or Nouméa in lie-flat Business Class with 41,500 Qantas Points. Fiji Airways flies the Airbus A330/A350 to Nadi, and Aircalin flies the new Airbus A330neo to Nouméa.
- Indulge in Emirates First Class between Sydney and Christchurch on board the Airbus A380 from 64,500 Qantas Points.
- Fly Qantas Economy one-way to anywhere in the world with 55,200 Qantas Points (or with partner airlines with no more than 66,200 Qantas Points).
- Fly Qantas Economy return anywhere within Australia for up to 40,600 points return, per person.
Other ways to boost your points balance
There are a number of other ways to earn bonus Qantas Points, including by signing up for a Qantas Points-earning credit card, buying wine through Qantas Wine, swiping your Everyday Rewards card and booking accommodation through Airbnb. And here are some of the best ways to use them.
You’re welcome!
…dealing with OPTUS has been a nightmare both for myself and a friend. We both failed – in on case to get the order processed and in the other code to get the account set up…OPTUS have been completely USELESS!!!
Look, it’s all very well letting people know about these deals, BUT, it’s also helpful if somebody at Point Hacks has actually tried to get them to work – otherwise we’re all wasting our time.
FWIW signed up for an eSIM expected to receive the QR code to activate the account by email (as per the instructions in the email), which never arrived. Couldn’t set up the app and online account since the account wasn’ activated. The account couldn’t be activated without the QR code. The “customer service” can centre agents were utterly useless. The account also couldn’t be activated within the end date of the promotion although the eIM was ordered within the promotion period.
I was also about to buy a new eSIM capable phone (I have iPhone with Telstra, which I presumed was locked to Tlestra).
Luckily, the agent in the local Optus dealer let me know that an iPhone from Telstra probably wasn’t locked to that a carrier and offered to let me try an Optus Sim in my iPhone. It worked, avoiding the need to buy a whole new phone.
And then after some days the eSIM arrived by email!
Now waiting to see if the 60,000 points are honoured given the eSIM was ordered within the promo period, even though the Sim isn’t activated in the period…
re: australiansuper acc, what is the go if I am already with Q super with QLD health deducting payments from my Q super account fortnightly?
During the sign in process they ask for my employer ABN which I assume they are asking for to deduct payments from my QLD health paychecks. If I have 2 super accounts how does it work, does QLD health pay out to 2 different supers?
Look forward to hearing from you
Thanks!
The relevant terms and conditions are shown below:
(c) …contribute a minimum of $350 to their AustralianSuper account within 6 months from the date they join the Fund (being the date the new member is allocated an AustralianSuper membership number).
The total contribution amount needs to be a minimum of $350 – it can be either a single contribution or cumulative amount within 6 months from the date you have joined the Fund (being the date you open an account and are allocated an AustralianSuper membership number). If it’s under that amount, the eligibility criteria has not been met. Once the $350 minimum contribution threshold has been met you can expect to receive your points approximately 2-3 months from the contribution date.
As you can see, the terms do not clearly define contribution, so while it probably can be assumed that this would cover both concessional and non-concessional contributions, as opposed to say rollovers, it would be best to contact AustralianSuper directly to confirm.
ie buy the gift vouchers before Oct 16, and ticket and fly before June 30 2019.
The FAQ on the offer seem to imply “Yes”. But i rang qantas and they said “not sure and think maybe not”
Useless. Thoughts?
So any flights that you booked under the previous promo fall under that one, and any others that you book before Tuesday will be fall under the more recent promo.
It MAY be that having registered for the promo, AND if you have your QFF details defined in your Uber account, then it will all work, but I’d start with the QF app to be sure.
I want to know what are the criteria to be eligible for Qantas Promotions, I know it is sent to random members of QFF and a system generated but how to be eligible to get an email like Double points or status points, I am a Platinum member.
Matt
Would obviously be subject to any change fees etc.
I tried calling QFF to ask the above, and they said no, then yes then maybe – so I’m left unsure of this!
Any articles in the making re best fares for a status run whilst the double status is on?
CNS-BNE-MEL-SYD-NOU-SYD-BNE-CNS
For $1343 netting 780 status credits.
Takes a bit of work with the multi-stop booking engine.
Note you need the QF flights, not the QF-coded Air Calin between SYD and NOU
Enter in booking engine:
CNS to MEL
MEL to SYD
SYD to NOU
NOU to CNS
Choose the CNS-MEL option with the stop in BNE.
Can’t make it work forcing a MEL on the return.
Apparently, NOU airport is 50 minutes outside the town – there care some chain (and other) hotels, including Hilton and Meridien (SPG).
I’m looking to purchase RTW biz class for for two for an 8 week romp late next year (Australia through USA, Europe, return). I’m getting pressure to buy now, but wondering if I should wait for a possible January Qantas promotion for double points/status credits?
Thanks!!
Is the double SC promo mentioned above (offer 2) a targeted offer or a general offer? I haven’t received an email with the offer and nor can I find anything on the Qantas website with the offer details.
Thanks,
Kerrod.
I spent far too much time working this offer out. When using link on this article, the page would state ‘Registration Confirmation’ and as I was already logged in to my FF account, thought, yeah, is that it. Just didn’t seem to gel. In the end, I logged out of my FF account and just went back to main Qantas page and right off the bat is where I could register (the sliding content at top of page – link takes you here:
https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/memberSpecials/double-points-QF-EK?int_cam=au%3Aen%3Ahomepage-promotion%3Adouble-points-qf-ek%3Aen%3Ann&adobe_mc=MCMID%3D76137379311443825712217785782046238827%7CMCORGID%3D11B20CF953F3626B0A490D44%2540AdobeOrg%7CTS%3D1504588488
and then right in front of you is the big red button that says register now. Good luck.
Cheers. Scuba
For all. The link in the article does not allow you to register (comes up as ‘Registration confirmed’). In lieu of this, go to the main Qantas front page and in the banner area at the top (the scrolling pictures) is one that links to a page that has the option to register.
PH Mods – maybe you could update the link within the article accordingly.
Cheers. Scuba.
I wonder how they decide who to target with emails like this
Please check the terms and conditions.
Generally, you are only allowed ONE offer! And that defaults to the first one that you register for.
Please confirm for your readers that the double points (advertised on the QF website for all) is indeed stackable with double status credits (which may be targeted by email).
Furthermore, if not stackable, folk will need to decide which they want – the points for the status! And then apply for that offer only or first.
“Only one bonus Qantas Points offer can be used per individual qualifying segment of your itinerary.”
but the double Status Credits offer differs in saying:
“Only one bonus Status Credits offer can be used per individual qualifying segment of your itinerary.”
The language from the targeted email to people that received both offers reads:
“As a special bonus for you, we are also offering double Status Credits on all eligible Qantas operated domestic or international flights with a ‘QF’ flight number on your ticket”
so it seems that the double Status Credits offer is in addition to the double Qantas Points offer.
“…This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other bonus offer by Qantas…If you qualify for multiple offers, the offer first-registered for will be applied to each individual qualifying segment…”
If the status offer specifically states you can double dip then folk should keep a copy of the terms and conditions and challenge QF to deliver both the bonus points and status credits based on the written evidence.
However, the good news is the 20,000 points has already been credited to my account.
I’ve been looking to upgrade my S5 for a while, and when I seen this, perfect opportunity to do so with some bonus points to boot!
Thank goodness I have already registered!
Sincerely ‘Qantas Points Pig’ 🙂
Would a rewards points sweeping card (westpac altitude black, linked to QFF) count as a rewards program and therefore be excluded?
Spend from 01 – 13 June 2017
Have points credited before 13 July 2017
