Singapore Airlines trials unlimited Wi-Fi in Business Class
Selected flights will offer limitless data for Business Class passengers.
What we'll be covering
Singapore Airlines is quietly bumping up the Business Class Wi-Fi allowance from 100 MB to unlimited data on tap – at least, for a limited trial. As first reported by Mainly Miles, Business Class passengers on selected aircraft are now being offered limitless inflight internet.
This includes some flights between Australia and Singapore, though the Airbus A380 and regional Airbus A350s aren’t part of the trial.
When approached for comment, a spokesperson for Singapore Airlines echoed to Point Hacks that the airline was continuously reviewing existing Wi-Fi offerings.
During this period, customers can enjoy a range of onboard Wi-Fi allowance, depending on their KrisFlyer membership status and cabin class.

New Wi-Fi allowance for Business Class and PPS Club
Previously, unlimited free Wi-Fi was reserved for passengers in Suites and First Class. But this is now being extended to Business Class and PPS Club members on certain flights.
KrisFlyer members flying in Premium Economy and Economy will also enjoy a free 2-hour ‘Surf’ session, rather than the limited free ‘Chat’ session that was offered before. To take advantage, make sure your KrisFlyer member number is attached to the booking.
PPS Club/Supplementary Card | KrisFlyer members | Non-KrisFlyer members | |
First Class/Suites | Unlimited Wi-Fi | Unlimited Wi-Fi | Unlimited Wi-Fi |
Business | Unlimited Wi-Fi | Unlimited Wi-Fi | Unlimited Wi-Fi |
Premium Economy | Unlimited Wi-Fi | 2-hour Surf plan | No free Wi-Fi |
Economy | Unlimited Wi-Fi | 2-hour Surf plan | No free Wi-Fi |
Which Singapore Airlines jets are part of the Wi-Fi trial?
The following Singapore Airlines aircraft are part of the trial. We’ve included the routes most relevant to Australian readers.
- Boeing 737-8 MAX: flies to Cairns and Darwin.
- Airbus A350 (long-haul): flies to most of Europe and occasionally to Brisbane.
- Airbus A350 (ULR): flies to New York.
- Boeing 777-300ER (some aircraft): occasionally flies to Melbourne, Sydney, Europe and the US.
- Boeing 787-10: flies to Perth.
Currently, Adelaide completely misses out on the trial, as only the regional Airbus A350 flies there. All other Australian Singapore Airlines destinations will offer some flights under the unlimited Wi-Fi trial in Business Class.
But if you’re travelling further afield to Europe or the USA, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to browse throughout the flight for free.
Summing up
Singapore Airlines is enhancing the Business Class experience with unlimited Wi-Fi being trialled on certain flights. This is a great move that will make the airline even more competitive around the world. In comparison, Qantas doesn’t offer Wi-Fi on any international flights, yet.
Qatar Airways charges US$8 (during online check-in) for unlimited access to ‘Super Wi-Fi’. Emirates offers free unlimited Chat to Skywards members in Business Class. Skywards members travelling in First Class and Skywards Platinum members in Business Class enjoy free, unlimited internet.
This trial is sure to cost Singapore Airlines a fair chunk, but it could be worth it if business travellers find value in having Wi-Fi included in their fares.
Keep up the awesome work Brandon and team. Really appreciate all your articles and insights.
