Qatar Airways opens new Al Mourjan Business Lounge

Business Class passengers flying on Oneworld alliance carriers through Doha’s Hamad International Airport can now relax in a brand-new lounge. Overlooking ‘The Orchard’ – the airport’s latest green-themed terminal expansion – Qatar Airways aptly nicknames its second Al Mourjan Business Lounge as ‘The Garden’.

With a vast 7,390 sqm footprint to accommodate 707 passengers, the new Al Mourjan lounge complements the existing Al Mourjan Business Lounge – South, which is located in the main concourse.

New facilities including a gym and nap rooms

New features in Al Mourjan – Garden include a fitness studio, spa facilities and even 24 quiet rooms, which are complimentary to book for the first six hours. The spa will offer a range of paid services including manicures, massages and speciality treatments such as facials.

Such luxuries have previously been restricted to the Al Safwa First Lounge, which Point Hacks reviewed recently. But to have them in a Business Class-grade lounge is unheard of. The nap rooms will certainly be in high demand during Qatar Airways’ peak transit periods in the morning and late at night.

Looking to fit in a bit of cardio during your transit before you feast on your next flight? Head to the gym – a rarity in airport lounges – to use the treadmills and elliptical exercise bikes. Just be sure to bring a change of clothes for after your shower!

As expected, the lounge will also feature shower rooms, business areas, a smoking room and areas for kids including a nursery, playroom and game room.

Buffet and à la carte dining across two wings

The Al Mourjan Lounge continues to offer an extended range of dining options. Feeling peckish? Make a beeline for the main dining area in the East Wing for restaurant-style dining.

But if you’re pressed for time, you can still hit up the buffet which features an extended variety of international cuisines, a sushi station, made-to-order salads and poke bowls, plus a cake and dessert selection. You’ll also find the main bar at the East Wing, where cocktails, wines, spirits, beers and mocktails await.

Over at the West Wing, which is closer to the showers and nap rooms, you can grab a selection of light bites and refreshments such as pastries, made-to-order sandwiches and fresh fruits.

How to find the new Al Mourjan Business Lounge

To reach the new Al Mourjan – Garden lounge from the iconic Lamp Bear, head towards the transfer train which takes you from the start of the ‘C’ gates towards the ‘D’ and ‘E’ gates. You can also walk there in 10-15 minutes.

As a ‘Premium’ lounge, Qatar Airways restricts entry to ticketed First and Business Class passengers on Oneworld member airlines. Thankfully, this includes Business and First Class reward seats redeemed outright with points. However, Qatar Airways excludes Business Lite fares (P) and upgraded Economy fares from entry.

Unfortunately, status plays no part in getting into these Premium lounges. Those with Oneworld Sapphire or Emerald status and travelling in Economy can access the Gold or Platinum lounges instead.
