Travellers in the program will earn Etihad Guest Miles for themselves, while the business will also earn Etihad Guest miles too.
For new BusinessConnect accounts you can earn 10,000 bonus Etihad Guest miles for a traveller and 5,000 for the company if you book and travel within 3 months from the date of registration.
Signing up for BusinessConnect and registering for this offer is pretty simple. You’ll need:
- First, an Etihad Guest account for a BusinessConnect administrator
- Then to signup for a BusinessConnect account
- The adminstrator to email [email protected] to confirm the company name, and your Etihad Guest number
The minimum requirement for a registered is an ABN – so sole traders are eligible to register and travel, making it fairly accessible.
BusinessConnect accounts also require two travellers connected to the account, but for most that won’t be a a hurdle either.
A qualifying flight on Etihad to trigger the bonus must be a paid revenue flight.
More about Etihad BusinessConnect
Why bother using Etihad Business Connect? Well, it’s essentially a way for Etihad flyers to double dip and earn Etihad Guest miles into their personal account, while also earning miles into their business account too.
Earning miles
The business account will earn 60% of the miles earned of the traveller for paid First and Business Class, and 30% for Economy travel.
BusinessConnect gives this example:
The Etihad Guest mileage rate for flying from Sydney to Abu Dhabi return in Business Class is 26,271 miles. And so your business would earn 15,763 miles (60% of the Etihad Guest rate) for your BusinessConnect account.
Eligible flights that will earn BusinessConnect miles are:
- Etihad operated flights on an EY coded flight number
- airberlin operated flights on an EY or AB coded flight number
- Virgin Australia flights flown under an EY codeshare
- All Etihad Regional flights
Redeeming miles
Miles in the Business account can’t be combined with a personal Etihad Guest balance, but can be redeemed for flights and other rewards just as for personal accounts.
BusinessConnect accounts essentially get their own Etihad Guest profile which has the same access to Etihad Guest redemptions as a personal member, so flight and other redemptions can all be made online.
Summing up – Etihad BusinessConnect
For anyone with an ABN, it’s a no brainer to sign up for BusinessConnect if they would ever consider taking a paid Etihad flight.
The ability to double dip and increase the miles earned on Etihad and partner flights is a great win – and although you can’t combine balances to get closer to an award, if you or your employees fly Etihad with any frequency, you are losing out on miles earned by not participating.
