The foodies have spoken – Singapore Airlines is revamping Premium Economy with an improved range of food and beverage options and a new amenity kit. Starting on flights from 31 March 2024, passengers can also look forward to meals being plated in porcelain serviceware, which is a big improvement from the Economy-style service of before.

It’s the first major shake-up to Singapore Airlines’ Premium Economy cabin since its debut in 2015. But it’s an important change to bring the Premium Economy food & beverage standards up to other competing carriers such as Qantas and Emirates.

An upgraded Champagne – Charles de Cazanove Brut Tradition NV – will soon be poured in Premium Economy.

Since its introduction in 2015, Premium Economy Class has become popular with our customers. They appreciate the added amenities, heightened comfort, and the extra personal space it offers, all at an excellent value.

We have undertaken this comprehensive revamp of our Premium Economy Class in-flight offerings, which we believe will delight our customers. Our upcoming new cabin products and in-flight entertainment system will further reinforce our goal of delivering a distinctive level of service.

– Mr Yeoh Phee Teik, Senior Vice President Customer Experience, Singapore Airlines, 15 March 2024

New meals and beverages

Singapore Airlines says it has developed ‘over 200’ new appetisers, main courses, and desserts for Premium Economy, which are served with croissants for breakfast or garlic bread throughout the day.

New appetisers include:

  • Garlic roasted prawns with smoked aioli
  • Broccoli salad with hot smoked salmon

For the main course, every flight will feature an International main and an Asian dish. Highlights include:

  • Beef Bourguignon (served with bacon, mushrooms, vegetables, and potato gratin)
  • Bak Chor Mee (minced pork noodles)
  • Thai-style crab curry served with jasmine/brown rice and seasonal vegetables with egg.

Book the Cook’ will continue to offer up to 20 dishes on rotation, including perennial favourites such as the Singapore-style seafood hor fun and chicken biryani. But look out for new additions such as the slow braised lamb ragout and the sake teriyaki.

For desserts, look forward to the likes of an apple crumble cheesecake or a mascarpone cream cake, also served with chocolate, cheese and crackers.

‘Book the Cook’ in Premium Economy is available from 24 airports.

On the beverages side, an updated list of wines and non-alcoholic options joins the menu:

  • Charles de Cazanove Brut Tradition NV Champagne
  • 2023 Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc
  • 2022 St Hallett Faith Shiraz
  • Peppermint and chamomile teas
  • Cadbury hot chocolate

A new amenity kit with a sustainable focus

Singapore Airlines is collaborating with US eco-friendly manufacturer Out of the Woods to create a new Premium Economy amenity kit made of eco-friendly and recyclable materials. The eyeshades and slippers are made from recycled PET material, and there’s also a lip balm stick.

If you’re thinking this amenity kit is a bit light on contents, you’d be right. But Singapore Airlines has always offered other toiletries, such as dental kits and moisturisers, in the lavatories. These will still be available.

Fly Singapore Airlines Premium Economy with points

Good news if you have a stash of Velocity Points or KrisFlyer miles – Singapore Airlines Premium Economy is routinely available as a reward seat on many dates. Just one thing, though. The points or miles needed are often not that much less than flying Business Class, so keep that in mind.
