So it’s been 6 or so weeks since I posted up anything up on Point Hacks. I’ve missed it, but it’s been a necessary pause while I get some personal things done and dusted, including a house move and large work project, which I’ll write about at some point once the dust has settled as it’s relevant in many ways to Point Hacks readers. Soon, but not yet.
With that out the way, here’s a few bits and pieces worth noting from the last few weeks.
The latest Priority Club Points Breaks list has gone up for Q3, and it’s pretty uninteresting for Australia, NZ and Asia, but might yield some interesting opportunities in the US or Europe for you.
US Airways are running another 100% bonus on buying Dividend Miles. Do it if there’s an inkling you’ll be travelling overseas in the next 3-9 months, want to travel in Business or First Class on a Star Alliance carrier, have flexible travel dates (or can book immediately and there is award availability now). It’s a good deal.
Qantas announced their return to the Sydney – Gold Coast route on Qantas metal, rather than having to use Jetstar. This means (hopefully) a glut of QFF seats available for redemption on the route in Economy and Business class from when they commence the service in October. Get in there now if you want to use your points on this route at some point in the next 12 months.
Amex released their latest set of Membership Rewards bonus partners for Q3. Nothing groundbreaking, but note the return of a range of insurance partners such as AAMI and GIO at 5x points per $; and a donation to MS Australia for a (tax-deductible) donation of $150 (or more) yielding 5000 points.
Meanwhile there have been next to no interesting credit card signup bonuses to report on. I haven’t been keeping a close eye on the market for the last couple of months, so if I’ve missed anything, please let me know.
Coming up in the next few weeks, I’ll finally put up some reviews and pictures of Cathay Pacific’s old and new Business Class services to and from Hong Kong and the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne. I’ve also just got back from a week in Singapore and Malaysia, so also look out for a review and pictures of Qantas First Class on the A380, Malaysia Airlines Business Class, the Singapore Changi Airport Crowne Plaza, the Westin Langkawi and Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur.
Told you I’ve been busy!
