From 21 May 2024, customers flying between Australia and India can enjoy greater connectivity thanks to the expansion of the partnership between Qantas and India’s largest domestic airline, IndiGo.
Currently, Qantas passengers arriving in Bengaluru and Delhi can connect to 21 destinations across India with IndiGo.
Under the new arrangement, passengers can fly from Australia to Singapore with Qantas, then connect seamlessly to IndiGo flights bound for Delhi and Mumbai. It’s also possible to add an overnight stopover in Singapore.
Here’s what to expect from the extended partnership:
- Qantas passengers connecting to IndiGo receive the same checked baggage allowance as their flight from Australia, as well as complimentary food and drinks.
- Qantas Frequent Flyer members can earn and redeem Qantas Points and earn Status Credits on connecting IndiGo flights between Singapore and India with a QF code.
Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace states that the codeshare agreement has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2022.
We’re excited to be growing our partnership further, offering our customers more choice and convenience when flying between Australia and India. This will also give frequent flyers another way to earn and redeem points and status credits.
We expect the new codeshare flights through Singapore will be popular with Qantas customers in Brisbane and Perth, who now have the option of a more direct route to India.
– Cam Wallace, CEO Qantas International, May 2024
As an example, you could book the following itinerary from Brisbane-Mumbai with Qantas and IndiGo:
- QF51 departing Brisbane at 11:05 am, arriving in Singapore at 5:20 pm
- QF8762 departing Singapore at 7:45 pm, arriving in Mumbai at 11:00 pm
In the opposite direction, you could fly:
- QF8763 departing Delhi at 9:15 am, arriving in Singapore at 5:45 pm
- QF72 departing Singapore at 7:35 pm, arriving in Perth at 00:45 (+1)
The expansion of this partnership comes a week after Qantas announced an increase to its services to India and Singapore. This will see additional flights from Brisbane and Sydney to Singapore, as well as daily flights on the Sydney-Bengaluru route during peak season.
