Qantas is making a bold statement with its latest line-up of luggage tags. Gone are the old ‘coaster-style’ Q Bag Tags – the latest iteration is a sleek anodised aluminium button with an elegant leather strap.
It’s quite hefty, but it no longer sports the built-in RFID chip of its predecessors for use at domestic Bag Drop. Instead, the updated tags offer a minimalist design with a dedicated space on the back for your contact details. Keen to add one to your travel kit? Here are the ways to get your hands on the updated Qantas Luggage Tag.
1. Request one as a status member
If you’re an elite Qantas frequent flyer member or higher, you might be able to ask for one to be sent out for free in your current membership year. There’s a unique design for every status level or membership, from Silver up to Chairman’s Lounge.
Top-tier Platinum One and Chairman’s Lounge flyers might have already received one without prompting. For everyone else, simply head to the ‘Contact Us’ page and submit a request with your membership details. If eligible, a representative will let you know that they’ve sent one out.
Once you renew your elite status, you should also see a prompt in your Qantas Frequent Flyer asking whether you’d like a new tag to be delivered. As before, members can continue to request a bag tag every year they maintain elite status.
Earn more Status Credits from your reward flights as a Qantas Points Club member.
2. Buy one from the Qantas Marketplace
Qantas also sells the base ‘red’ version on the Qantas Marketplace for $20 or 3,480 Qantas Points. If you’re not eligible for a status version, this is the easiest and most cost-effective way to get one. Don’t forget to add Climate Positive Delivery for $1 to qualify for one of your Green Tier leaves.
(Of course, there’s nothing stopping you from browsing eBay, but I’d suggest that dropping hundreds of dollars on a ‘Platinum One’ edition isn’t the best use of funds!)
