Are you looking to spend points on flights with Cathay Pacific and right across the oneworld Alliance? You can now transfer points from PayRewards straight into Cathay Pacific’s Asia Miles program. PayRewards is the loyalty program of pay.com.au – a payment processing platform that makes routine bills more rewarding for businesses.

Asia Miles is also a points transfer partner of many Australian credit card rewards programs. These include all ‘Big Four Banks’, American Express Membership Rewards, and more. This means savvy business owners could double dip on points by earning rewards through their credit card and PayRewards Points on many of those same spends. Here’s a look at how it all works.

Transferring PayRewards Points to Asia Miles

Points conversions from PayRewards to Asia Miles are now available at a 3:1 rate. That’s common in several Australian bank-operated points transfer programs. It’s also the same conversion rate as when converting PayRewards Points into Avios with Qatar Airways Privilege Club – another of PayRewards’ oneworld Alliance points partners.

PayRewards Points can also be converted to Qantas Business Rewards, Virgin Australia Business Flyer and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer at a 2.5:1 rate. However, Asia Miles presents some greater redemption opportunities.

For instance, Cathay Pacific frequently offers more reward seats available to its own Asia Miles members than what’s bookable through other partner programs. As such, it’s possible that travellers may find reward seats through Asia Miles that wouldn’t be bookable using points from another oneworld program.

Asia Miles also maintains a strong list of partner airlines beyond oneworld itself. This includes several Star Alliance carriers plus some airlines that aren’t part of a global alliance. All up, after converting points from PayRewards and other programs, it’s possible to redeem Asia Miles on the following airlines serving Australia:

  • Air Canada
  • Air China
  • Air New Zealand
  • American Airlines
  • British Airways
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Fiji Airways
  • Japan Airlines
  • LATAM
  • Malaysia Airlines
  • Qantas
  • Qatar Airways
  • SriLankan Airlines

Other notable airline redemption partners include Austrian Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Finnair, Gulf Air, HK Express, Lufthansa, Shenzhen Airlines, SWISS and more.

Other ways of earning rewards with Cathay Pacific

In addition to the fresh opportunity to convert PayRewards Points to Asia Miles, here are some of the other key Australian programs that allow point transfers to Cathay Pacific.

By nature, users of pay.com.au could double dip on rewards. That is, earn points once by making payments using an eligible points-earning credit card through the Pay platform. Then, select to earn PayRewards Points on those same payments, which can later be converted into Asia Miles.

Asia Miles is one of many new partners recently added to the PayRewards program. Other additions include Air Canada Aeroplan, Marriott Bonvoy, Accor Live Limitless and Qatar Airways Privilege Club. These partners complement Qantas Business Rewards, Virgin Australia Business Flyer and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer.
