Hawaiian Airlines plans new lounge at Honolulu Airport
There's a bigger and better lounge coming to the airline's home hub.
What we'll be covering
Hawaiian Airlines is laying down plans for the future of its lounge network at Honolulu Airport. Following its merger with Alaska Airlines, the carrier will debut a new ‘premium lounge’ at its home hub by the end of 2027.
The swanky, flagship space will be five times larger than Hawaiian’s existing Plumeria Lounge. That’s the airline’s largest and nicest publicly accessible lounge in Honolulu. Once opened, the lounge will primarily serve passengers of Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines. But the full guest list will won’t be known until closer to opening.
Influencing those policies will be whether Hawaiian ultimately joins oneworld, as has been tipped by Alaska Airlines. Depending on whether it’s categorised as a ‘class of service’ lounge, a ‘frequent flyer’ lounge, or both, will play into those policies. Those circumstances and a potential alliance membership could even allow eligible Qantas passengers access to the space. But with the lounge several years away, that’s for another day.
Our new Honolulu lounge will be a celebration of our guest’s voyage, thoughtfully crafted to honour the beauty and warmth of our island home. This space reinforces our commitment to providing an unrivalled travel experience that reflects the purpose and values of our hometown airline.

Sneak peek at Hawaiian Airlines’ lounge plans for Honolulu
Back in 2022, Point Hacks exclusively revealed that Hawaiian was looking to redevelop its lounge offerings at Honolulu Airport. We shared an exclusive update in 2023 that a flagship-type lounge was on the cards, but that Hawaiian was equally mindful not to offer too many different lounge products for a ‘relatively small airline’.
Things have changed a little since then, given the merger with Alaska Airlines, through which Hawaiian Airlines retains its own brand. With the airline group now larger in size, and with the need to serve passengers of both airlines at the same airport, a larger lounge makes more sense.
It’s been several years to get this point and still a work in progress. But some early glimpses of the space represent a significant step above the relatively basic offerings of the Plumeria Lounge.
Not only will the lounge be bigger, but it’ll also be designed to better represent its location. Initial design concepts weave in ‘intentional areas of surprise’ while also conveying that sense of place. Whites and creams represent sand and beaches, while pops of teal mimic the state’s picturesque beaches.
Hawaiian Airlines currently offers three other lounges in Honolulu. There’s:
- The Premier Club, the most basic of the three. Designed for travellers taking short hops.
- The Plumeria Lounge, the current international flagship. Designed for those jetting abroad or to the US mainland east coast, as well as Priority Pass members.
- Apartment 1929, a private lounge. For those requiring seclusion from the crowds.
The airline also operates a network of Premier Club locations across the various Hawaiian Islands. Maui is now home to a second Premier Club, with the carrier planning ‘additional investments’ across that network.
