Ingogo is a taxi booking service for both passengers and drivers, which can be accessed through the official app. If you’re wondering if this is the same as Uber and Ola, then the answer is ‘not quite’. Instead of rideshares, you’re booking actual taxis instead, across a range of companies.
As you’d expect from similar apps, core features include real-time taxi tracking, the ability to text the driver, pre-booked rides and in-app payments for a speedy exit. It also covers all taxi operators across Australia.
To distinguish itself from Uber, ingogo provides fixed fare transparency (i.e. no surge prices), along with a pickup guarantee. That is, if a driver cancels your job and a replacement driver can’t be found, then a $10 credit is applied to your account for future use.
How to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer Points with ingogo taxis
You will first need to download the ingogo app (iOS or Android) and create an account. Once your account is created, you will need to log in your Ingogo account, and select the menu button in the top right-hand side of the app:

Eligible trips taken using the ingogo app will earn you 1 Qantas Point for each $1 spent. As an example, if your fare was $30 (inclusive of GST), then you will earn 30 Qantas Points.
Eligible travel is inclusive of GST, toll and all other costs included in the fare but excludes cancellation fees, payments that are reversed or refunded, booked trips that are not completed and payments which are suspected or deemed by ingogo to be fraudulent.
Pricing
ingogo provides fixed fares, which means that you will see the amount of the full-fare (with no additional fees or tolls) at the time of booking.
ingogo uses an algorithm to determine price, which includes inputs such as distance travelled and the time and day of the week, but assure passengers that these fares are calculated fairly, as they are based on historical data and the journey is optimised for the shortest possible journey time based on up to the minute traffic conditions.
Summing up
ingogo offers a simple earn rate of 1 Qantas Point per dollar spent but you should look at what you can earn with other services to make an informed decision.

Thanks for your response. You may well have a point regarding the CBD. My success was at Canberra Airport going to Parliament House. In Brisbane where I struck out, it was the CBD.
I think with the CBD of Sydney and other cities there isn’t much motivation for the drivers and outside of this points incentive there isn’t much motivation for the passenger. The CBD is awash of cars and drivers and there’s no advantage in reaching for the app.
Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s funny, as I used it in Canberra on the first day it was available there, and was accepted on both occasions in under a minute. I’ve been out of luck in Brisbane though and appears that I will presently experience the same thing in Sydney.
