Asia miles is one of our preferred points programs for booking long-range flights within the oneworld alliance, with favourable pricing over Qantas Frequent Flyer, for example, on quite a number of routes.
Like most frequent flyer programs, Asia miles has a number of partnerships for earning points from hotel stays — whether you book directly with the hotel or via an online travel agent.
This guide will highlight those points-earning opportunities, so you can maximise your points haul from your next holiday.
How can I earn Asia miles from hotel stays?
Asia miles offers a few different ways to earn miles from staying at hotels:
- Some hotel loyalty programs are transfer partners, so you can swap rewards points for Asia miles
- Many hotel chains offer ‘direct earn’ options, where you stay and earn Asia miles directly instead of hotel rewards points
- A handful of online travel agents offer Asia miles when booking through them — this could be better for booking smaller boutique hotels
1. Transferring hotel rewards points to Asia miles
All of the major hotel rewards programs — a roster that includes staples such as Accor, Marriott Bonvoy, IHG Rewards and Hilton — are Asia miles transfer partners.
This means you can book stays with those chains directly and earn points into their respective programs. Later, you can then choose to transfer those points to Asia miles at a time of your choice.
These are the transfer partners and rates:
Hotels | Asia miles Transfer Rate |
---|---|
Accor Hotels | 1 mile for every 2 AccorHotels points |
Best Western | 1,000 miles for every 5,000 Best Western Rewards Points |
Hilton | 1,000 miles for every 10,000 HHonors points |
Hyatt | 1 mile for every 2.5 Hyatt Gold Passport Points |
IHG | 1 mile for every 5 IHG Rewards Club Points |
Jin Jiang International | 600 miles for every 6,000 Jin Jiang J-Club points |
Jinling Hotels & Resorts | 500 miles for every 3,200 Jinling Points |
Marriott Bonvoy | 1,500 miles for every 10,000 Marriott Bonvoy points |
New Century Hotel & Resorts | 300 miles for every 1,600 New Century Points |
Park Plaza | 1 mile for every 10 Gold Points |
Radisson | 1 mile for every 10 Gold Points |
Regal Hotels | 1,000 miles for every 15,000 points |
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts | 1 mile for every 1 Golden Circle Award Point |
Wanda Hotels & Resorts | 1 mile for every 4 Wanda Club Points |
In many cases, you will still get more value out of redeeming the points with the hotel chain for hotel stays. But in some circumstances, such as emptying out an inactive account or during a bonus transfer period, it could make more sense to transfer out to Asia miles.
2. Earning Asia miles from hotel stays directly

3. Earning Asia miles from online travel agents
Kaligo and Hotels.com are two online travel agents that give the option to earn Asia miles on stays booked through their respective portals. One advantage of this method is you might be able to book smaller independent hotels this way and still earn Asia miles.
Earning Asia miles with Kaligo
We have a full guide to Kaligo here along with a list of their current promotions. In short, Kaligo is an online travel agent that offers at least several hundred miles Asia miles per night.
The more expensive hotels – or where Kaligo have at least added more commission to fund more miles on offer – can offer more than 7 Asia miles per dollar spent, which is an excellent earn rate.
You can get started earning Asia miles via Kaligo here. Be sure to compare to other hotel aggregators and directly with the property to compare room rates, and ensure you’re not paying too much more for the points.
Earning Asia miles via Hotels.com
You can pick up more Asia miles using their partnership with Hotels.com too. The rate is 2 Asia miles per HK$10 (or just under 1 Asia Mile per A$1 depending on the exchange rate) if you apply the code ‘AML’ at checkout. Doing so forfeits any Hotels.com rewards including free night stamps.
If you’d rather still earn Hotels.com rewards, then you can still forego the aforementioned coupon code and pocket 1 Asia Mile per HK$10 spent (~0.5 miles per A$1) while double-dipping on the Hotels.com free night stamps.

Earning Asia miles with Agoda and Booking.com
Rounding up the list, Asia miles also has partnerships with Agoda and Booking.com.
The latter has a similar arrangement as Hotels.com — go through this link to earn at least 2 Asia miles per HK$10 spent, unless certain promotions increase that amount (like below).
Meanwhile, Agoda works a bit differently. You’ll still earn 2 Asia miles per HK$10 spent worldwide, but only when you choose a ‘PointsMax rate’ which may be a bit more than the usual rate. Be sure to take this price increase into account.
Summing up: which is the best way to earn Asia miles?
This is very difficult to answer. Often Kaligo will come out on top in terms of pure points earned from a single stay, especially during a promotional period. But, you have to be careful about comparing prices with other vendors as well.
If you stay frequently and are going after hotel program elite status with a single chain, then you’ll probably be earning points with their program anyway and not prioritising Asia miles earn as much.
It also rules out online travel agents as you generally have to book direct with the chain to earn loyalty rewards. In that case, you might later consider transferring points to Asia miles.
The Hotels.com, Booking.com and Agoda kickback of 2 Asia miles per HK$10 is not high, but during promotional periods again this could become more lucrative. Hotels.com also has its free reward night program which you can use in conjunction with earning Asia miles.
In short, the best method really depends on your stay habits. But at least, there are three distinct pathways that should cover the vast majority of points-hacking travellers.

Eg. 7 Flights + Nights = 85,000 Asia Miles redemption award. Do I get 30% extra miles, bringing the total of the Flights & Nights redemption to be 110,500 Asia Miles?
You can pick up more Asia Miles using their partnership with Hotels.com too.
You’ll receive 2 Asia Miles per 10 HKD spent, which is a return of just under 1 Asia Mile per AUD or NZD.”
At the current A$ exchange rate, the return is ‘just “over” 1 Asia Mile per AUD’?!
