St.George is offering 150,000 Amplify Rewards Points (equivalent to 75,000 Velocity Points or up to $675 in eGift cards) plus a reduced first-year annual fee of $199 for new cardholders who apply for the Amplify Rewards Signature Visa Card variant by 30 April 2025 and spend a minimum of $12,000 on eligible purchases within the first 12 months from approval.
The Amplify family includes cards offered by St.George, Bank of Melbourne and BankSA and they continue to offer decent points earn rates from your day-to-day spend. This guide covers the different earn rates, caps and benefits of the St.George Amplify Rewards Signature Visa.
Since Amplify Rewards points are transferable to Velocity Frequent Flyer on a 2:1 basis and KrisFlyer on a 3:1 basis. This means that the current bonus of up to 150,000 Amplify Points bonus is equivalent to 75,000 points when transferred to Velocity Frequent Flyer and 50,000 miles when transferred to KrisFlyer.

Summing Up
The St.George Amplify Rewards Signature Card could be a useful card for those who are looking for a non-Amex card with decent points earn and flexibility in how you use them.
Bonus offers on this card can be hit and miss but when they are good like this offer now, the card is well worth considering. The travel and lounge access perks are also handy extra benefits.

I have a St George Amplify Signature and it clearly states that the ‘eligible spend’ for purposes of bonus points does not include government payments so I presume it excludes payments to the ATO, state govt and local govt. It makes it rather hard to spend $12,000 once all these entities are excluded. I have an Amex Explorer which I use for grocery shopping but I now leave it at home until I meet my spend for the Amplify bonus. Personally, I prefer the $3,000 spend within three months offers, this one is a bit too protracted for me.
It is the latter, as per the T&Cs of the offer below:
“The first two visits within each twelve month membership period are complimentary to the primary Cardholder only, after which every visit would be charged as per the prevailing rates; currently US$27 per person.
Thanks for letting us know. I’ve just tested the sticky now and it appears to be resolved.
Thanks.
Thanks for your help.
Yes, generally points that normally accrue will also accrue for bonus points qualification purposes.
Thanks!
Yes that’s right, his offer has a reduced annual fee of $179.
I only just saw this article today and tried to apply it but the website is already closed.
Is there any chance I can apply through point hack again with this amazing deal, thanks!
Tingka
This offer has been extended and the link from the Point Hacks website should now work.
200,000 points over 2 years but only 1 year fee free…
It’s a shame you had to use a negative word such as ‘underhanded’ to ask your question. Point Hacks writers go out of their way to ensure that all information provided on this site is accurate and reflects the details of an offer, and this article is no exception.
We specifically chose to use the words ‘up to’ 200,000 points as the bonus points are accrued over 2 years, which is clearly reflected in the article. The first year annual fee is $0, and the full annual fee of $279 is charged in subsequent years.
My intention was to change from the Amplify program default to Qantas before spending my first $1 on it. But ONLY if this switch doesn’t jeopardise my bonus points (100k + 100k).
The support team is bit confused and divided on this one at first (I made 3 separate call enquirers). But each time I politely asked that they check with their supervisor and provide a definite response I can contractually rely on (since the T&C were silent on this as far as I could tell).
They agree in the end that
1. Any points accumulated on Amplify prior to switch to Qantas is forgone (doesn’t apply to me)
The bonus is still available on the new program assuming I meet the criteria ($12k in 12 months)
Happy to hear from anyone with contradicting (or corroborating) advice received. I’m still a bit doubtful if I have mucked up my eligibility to the bonus by adding this layer of complexity :p
not really worth it.
Novi
Thank you!
Your Priority Pass membership will very likely get cancelled upon cancellation of the St George Signature card.
Yes, you would be able to use your lounge passes when you receive them. The minimum spend requirement relates to getting the bonus points.
Have you heard back about the $279 fee and whether you still have to pay it if you withdraw your membership prior to 12 months from the date of purchase?
I have applied for the card and one thing that is VERY obvious is that you need to be a pre-existing St George customer in order to be eligible for this card (this is because my friend and I applied, we are both on the same salary and basically the same overall circumstances but she is not a pre-existing customer and I am).
I think this is complete BS because the advertisement clearly states that the $0 annual fee for the first year is only available to NEW St George Amplify cardholders…which means alot of completely new St George customers would be expected to apply. The other thing is that because of the attractive QFF bonus points, alot of QFF members would be interested in purchasing this card and being a QFF and having a St George account are certainly not connected!
Anyway, thanks for the heads up about the exhausting paperwork process to actually get this card if you are even accepted as eligible…
Hi Jack, what do you mean by Accountants Letters? :S I hope they don’t annoy me too much!
Did you get a response regarding the annual fee if you were to cancel before the end of the first year?
Sorry I didn’t check back to this page til now. Here are my experiences:
$279 annual fee. I called up the bank. The helpful guy confirmed the text being standard issue by the bank and was not updated for cards issued through Point Hacks’ $0 first year fee promotion.
I ran the scenario with him where I terminated the card 11th month in. Again he confirmed I won’t be charged 11/12th of the fee chargeable on the anniversary. I can quit without recourse, so to speak.
Not true that’s you must be a prior St G customer. I’ve never considered banking with them until now.
I went through to apply for the card using your link (thanks!) to take advantage of the $0 first year fee-free promotion.
My card is now sitting in the branch waiting for collection. Meanwhile, I received the Welcome pack from the bank. There’s a clause in the Credit Account Offer letter under Fees and Charges which is potentially concerning… it reads:
“Annual card fee
Initial annual card fee – will be debited 12 months from the date of the statement following the date we debit your first cash advance, credit purchase or balance transfer transaction to the account [fair enough]…
… Total fees and charges which are DEFINITELY [emphasis mine] payable = $279.00”
It’s late now but i’ll call them tomorrow to clarify if this means if the card was terminated midway through the first year that i’ll still be liable to pay the prorated amount of that $279.
I hope this is not the case as I have had only positive experiences with St George. If so, it’s very sneaky how they promoted it to be $0 fee but bites you in the back… I’ll report back but happy to hear your thoughts as well. Cheers.
Eric
Im sorry for the confusion, I meant, I am Already a supplementary card holder on my partners St Goerge Amplify Signature Card. I would be applying in my own name and wondered if that would make me ineligible for the bonus offer?
No worries, I see what you mean now. Technically you would be a new cardholders as you don’t currently have an account in your name, however the terms and conditions don’t explicitly cover this particular situation and whether you would be required to be removed as a supplementary cardholder from your partner’s account before applying.
My advice would be to contact St. George and advise them that you wish to apply for this card and get the bonus points and what you would need to do to become eligible for the offer. Specifically, you should ask them 2 questions:
I hope this helps. Please get back in touch if you have any any other questions. Thanks!
The terms and conditions are silent on this point, however supplementary cardholders are generally not eligible for bonus points.
I would recommend calling St. George to confirm this, or alternatively look to apply for this card separately in your own name.
If I am a secondary card holder on my husband’s account, can I apply by myself and be eligible for the 200k bonus points?
There is no stated income requirement, however as a guide, most banks require around $75,000p.a for their top-tier cards.
The bonus points will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria is met for each year.

This card doesn’t state a minimum income requirement, however as a guide, most banks require around $75,000p.a for their top-tier cards.
Also be mindful that income is just one criteria that banks use to determine the suitability of the card for your son.
Be warned though, you need to jump through a lot of hoops to get this card approved.
I never had the slightest problem getting approval for a credit card until I applied for the St George Amplify last year.
Took about 2 months and I had to go into a branch. (I am a medical specialist)
Good luck!
