Summing up
The St.George Amplify Qantas Signature Card, along with the other Qantas Rewards variants under the Amplify family could still be useful for those who are looking for a non-Amex card with decent Qantas Points earn.
Bonus offers on this card can be hit and miss but when they are good, the card can be worth considering, especially with the handy travel and lounge access perks.
Same question applies with all other banks which has the ‘amplify’ rewards ie. SA, BOM
Are you aware if they count local rates payment as government spending?
Unfortunately the terms and conditions are silent on what constitutes government spending, which are excluded from earning points. In this situation, it is best to give St George a call to confirm.
If you wish to play it safe, I would wait for the bonus points to come through, but you could always call St. George and confirm with them as well.
I have spent my minimum $4000 and it’s looks as though i didn’t receive the 80000 Qantas points.
Instead I received 2500 odd?
Can you shed any light to this?
Cheers
Andrew
After the minimum spend is made, bonus points generally take anywhere between 4 to 12 weeks to credit to your frequent flyer account, varying by each provider. If you haven’t received them in this time frame, please send your details to [email protected] so we can investigate further with St. George.
Would there be any risk of losing the points if i cancelled the card now (after paying it out)?
I plan on searching for another card.
Cheers
Andrew
Once points are credited to your frequent flyer account, they cannot be reversed. However, if you cancel prior to receiving the bonus points, then you will forfeit these points.
cc anyone else,
I’ve now spent the $4k required. Do you know how I get my hands the lounge passes? You gotta ring ’em up?
Cheers,
Eric
PLease see the T&Cs regarding the lounge passes below:

However the information I have read states that the same $0 annual card fee for the first year applies for customers opting for Qantas reward points: https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/affiliate/amplify-signature/qantasexclusive?promoCode=Q2&cid=sc:cc:FY19_1901:oth:qf:dtop&utm_source=qf&utm_medium=oth&utm_campaign=FY19_1901
Please clarify, thanks! 🙂
The no annual fee promotion on the link that you attached appears to be a Qantas specific promotion. In this case, that promotion will get you a $0 annual fee in the first year rather than a discounted fee.
