Where to credit points: Most of these fares earn points at the Discount Economy rate.
For example, on a return trip between the East Coast and New York or London in Economy Class, you’ll earn 12,400 Qantas Points + 140 Status Credits. Point Hacks values those points at 2 cents each, meaning that you are effectively earning a cashback of $248—that is huge value on a $1169 fare!
A Premium Economy ticket on the same route would earn double the points and Status Credits, giving you a cashback value of almost $500. With those 24,800 Qantas Points earned, you could fly Business Class between Sydney and anywhere in this circle (plus taxes, of course).
Popular options would be to attach your Qantas Frequent Flyer, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, British Airways Avios, American Airlines AAdvantage or Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan number to your reservation (you have ten opportunities to do so). Read more in our guide to where to credit points.
Lounge access: if you hold Qantas Gold or above status, are a Qantas Club member or have Qantas lounge passes with one of these credit cards, you will get access to Qantas and associated partner lounges; American Express Card Members get access to the Sydney and Melbourne Amex lounges; and Priority Pass members can gain access to these lounges.
Booking link: you can book directly through the Qantas website. Make sure you add your frequent flyer number to your booking. You can avoid the credit card booking fee by instead paying by BPAY or POLi.
