Qantas passengers often face lengthy wait times when contacting customer service by phone, so here is a good alternative!
Save this number in your phone—0477 726 827 (which is 0477 QANTAS)—and you can send a message for simple requests like:
- choosing a seat
- requesting a special meal
- linking two itineraries
If you need to do something more complicated (including booking an award ticket), you’ll probably have to call them (using the details below)—but you could always try SMS first! It’s available in Australia only.
I also find that contacting Qantas via a direct message on Twitter or Facebook Messenger is a great time-saving option too!
Save time by messaging Qantas on Facebook Messenger
(By the way, we now have Jet The Point Hacks Chatbot available on Facebook Messenger to tell you about the best frequent flyer and credit card offers, answer your questions about points and much more!)
In this guide
It’s no secret—frequent flyer redemptions can be a pain, especially given how much time you’ll spend getting through to a customer service agent on the phone.
Often phone calls are the only way to complete a task that’s not even complex—they are just a necessary fact of frequent flyer life.
Call enough times and you’ll start to see how much time you are wasting finding phone numbers, selecting options and verifying fees. So we thought we should collate all the information for you in one place (this page) for the major frequent flyer programs we deal with in Australia in the hope it will save us all some time.
Note that you may (read: will probably) have to pay a fee to book, change or cancel a ticket over the phone, whether that’s with cash or points.

More about this resource
We’ve noted the phone number sequences to get through to make an award reservation (or enquiry) without you having to listen to each option in full. That in itself I hope will be a big timesaver.
You won’t learn anything new from this post, but it’s a resource to bookmark for later if you find yourself calling frequent flyer programs every so often to make your bookings.
It’s possible we’ve got some of these wrong, or that details might change—so if you don’t have success or want to submit a change, please let us know in the comments.
You can read our guide here on how to save time by contacting airlines on social media.
One problem I have encountered is if I use the multi flight tool to book flights that are available but some are not yet released but will be in future, there seems no way to add that new flight (in my case a return journey some 4 months after planned departure) to my earlier booming. Phoned Qantas but hey said it was not possible. Suggested cancer the early booking (7 Award flight) then try to book all together. Could do but award seats may no longer be available plus I need wait until points are refunded before I rebook. Is this a common problem
All Point Hacks exclusive offers have been co-ordinated with the relevant financial institution, so be rest assured that all applications made through the Point Hacks website are honoured.
Should any reader have a delay in receiving their points, we encourage you to send your details to [email protected], and a relevant staff member will further investigate the issue with the relevant bank.
Of course I cannot speak for other providers in the market.
Thanks
Kind regards, Snezana
One suggestion – could you add the international phone numbers for people who are overseas and need to make a change? I.e. the 13 numbers won’t work outside of Aus – could you add the +61 numbers?
But even without that this is a fantastic resource – thank you!!
