Today we opened signups for Impulse Points (you can join here) – a new email service created by Point Hacks and iFLYflat.
The concept is pretty simple – people with points might need some help with finding some of the better ways to use them – and late-booked travel is also one of the best ways to use your points, and an exciting way to travel spontaneously.
So Impulse Points subscribers will receive an email which outlines…
- The most interesting award seats available…
- Departing from Australian capitals…
- For travel two weeks from now for a long weekend…
- Using the major points currencies for Aussies…
- Sent every Wednesday.
By ‘interesting’, we’ll be looking for at least two seats to some of the best leisure destinations for a weekend break.
We’ll aim for Business (or First!) Class redemptions (but not exclusively), and highlight the best options we’ve found.
You’ll then be able to either search for the award redemptions to book yourself, or use iFLYflat’s award booking support.
That’s it! Look out for the first Impulse Points email to arrive later in February.
While I find it easy to burn through the points that I generate; I have some friends who struggle. Have you ever considered tying this in with a marketplace of people willing to sell the specified trip for $x?
i.e. Keith finds a great points deal on 2x business return to Vanuatu. Subscriber John Smith is willing to book that on your behalf for $1500. John gets a better point redemption than gift cards. A subscriber gets a great deal on a flight. Keith takes a small transaction fee on the way through.
Everyone wins.
Is that even within ToC of the loyalty providers? Probably not.
I love your existing newsletter and the service you run here. Air miles are very hard for me to fathom out so I really appreciate you taking the hard work out of trying to understand it all. Thank you.
I’ll definitely sign up for this new newsletter about imminent deals but I’d love it if you didn’t restrict it to destinations suitable for weekend breaks but included long haul options too. Fingers crossed!
Keep up the great work and happy travels 🙂
