The Ultimate Guide to earning Velocity Points with DiDi
Boost your Velocity Points balance with rideshare platform DiDi.

What we'll be covering
Velocity Frequent Flyer has joined forces with rideshare platform DiDi, allowing customers to earn Velocity Points on eligible rides in Australia.
Here’s how to make the most of this partnership to maximise your frequent flyer points from rideshares.
How to earn Velocity Points on DiDi rides
This partnership allows Velocity Points to be earned on all rides with DiDi – whether you’re dashing to the airport, heading home after a night out or making your way to a meeting.
You’ll earn one Velocity Point per $1 spent on eligible rides in Australia.
This earn rate applies to the base fare only, and doesn’t include any third-party charges. For instance, you won’t earn Velocity Points on tolls, airport fees, sales tax, and any promotions or discounts applied. You also won’t earn points on fares that have been refunded.
Travelling for business? The Velocity and DiDi partnership extends to Virgin Australia Business Flyer members, too. If you hold an ABN, you can also link your Virgin Australia Business Flyer account to DiDi. The earn rate is the same – that’s one Velocity Point per dollar on all rides.
Importantly, you must link your Velocity Frequent Flyer account or Virgin Australia Business Flyer account to DiDi before you ride. Points can take up to 31 days to appear in your account from the date of travel.
Linking your Velocity and DiDi accounts
Here’s how to link your Velocity and DiDi accounts.
- Download the DiDi app.
- Log in or create a new account.
- Under the menu, tap ‘Velocity Points’ then ‘Link Now’.
- For Velocity Frequent Flyer members: enter your name as it appears in your Velocity account and input your Velocity Frequent Flyer number.
- For Virgin Australia Business Flyer members: enter your name as it appears in your account and input your ABN.
- Tap the ‘Link Now’ button to finish linking your accounts.
And that’s it! You’ll collect Velocity Points each time you ride with DiDi in Australia.
Note that if you have both a personal Velocity Frequent Flyer account and a Virgin Australia Business Flyer account linked to DiDi, you can toggle which account earns points in the app. Simply navigate to ‘Velocity Points’ in the app menu and tap the dropdown arrow to select your account. Points can only be credited to one account at a time.

Bonus points for linking your Velocity and DiDi accounts
Until 15 May 2024, new and existing DiDi customers can earn 1,000 bonus Velocity Points simply for linking their Velocity Frequent Flyer account.
If you have an ABN, you can also link your Virgin Australia Business Flyer account to DiDi for an additional 1,000 bonus Velocity Points.

Summing up

Compared to the Uber and Qantas Frequent Flyer partnership, which only allows Qantas Points to be earned on rides to and from eligible Australian airports, the DiDi and Velocity partnership rewards riders on all trips.
Before you ride, you need to link your personal Velocity Frequent Flyer account or your Virgin Australia Business Flyer account to DiDi.
And if you want to maximise your rewards, you can even link a credit card that earns Velocity Points to your DiDi account to fast-track your way to some lavish Experiences using points.
