First Class passengers departing from Hong Kong Airport on Cathay Pacific or one of its partners like Qantas have two lounges to choose from. So which one should you visit?
Given that the two lounges are located quite a distance from each other and Hong Kong’s departure gates are very spread out, if you only have less than 90 minutes, then you’ll need to choose just one.
Would you prefer to enjoy better food overlooking the tarmac in The Pier, or spend time relaxing in a private cabana in The Wing?
If you have more than 90 minutes, then I think it is reasonable for you to visit both.
I had the pleasure of visiting the two lounges in February 2019 and, for me, The Pier was the clear winner. Here is how I would rate the lounges on their offerings.

Summing up
To me, The Pier is a superior lounge. It’s newer and has a better sense of exclusivity as it’s not exposed to the noise of the concourse.
The dining space is beautiful and the complimentary massage is a nice treat. If you can snag one of the eight day suites, then you’ll have some space to relax before your flight.
However, the lounge is not without its drawbacks, including poor water temperature.
If you are visiting The Wing, don’t despair—it’s still a solid lounge.
The cabanas are a big drawcard but numbering only five, the chances of booking one can be low.
The food isn’t as good at this lounge and the layout isn’t as attractive, but the drink options are better here, including a dedicated Champagne Bar.
